CEO: Kamaz to raise 2021 sales plan by 8% to 40,000 trucks

YELABUGA, republic of Tatarstan, Jun 2 (PRIME) -- Russian truck maker Kamaz plans to improve its business plan for sales in 2021 by more than 8% to over 40,000 vehicles on the domestic and export markets and is awaiting its approval by the board of directors, CEO Sergei Kogogin told reporters on Wednesday.

“In principle, without the approval of the board of directors, yes. I think we will make more than 40,000 (vehicles),” he said.

In Russia, Kamaz plans to sell around 35,000–36,000 vehicles, he added.

Earlier, the company planned to sell a total of 37,000 trucks in 2021, including 32,000 vehicles on the domestic market.

Separately, Vadim Shvetsov, the main owner and chairman of the board of directors of car maker Sollers, said that the project to create an alliance between Sollers group and Kamaz is in the process of restart, and the takeover of the company is not being discussed within its framework.

“The pandemic was a big hindrance, we could not just physically meet, because the alliance process still requires live communication, not video. Therefore, we are now at the stage of restarting the project – the future will show,” Shvetsov said.
